(I am well aware of how terrible my writing, grammer, punctuation, spelling and overall formatting is. But I have to get this crap out of my head or else I will explode.)
Arnold Schwarzenegger. The guy can barely speak english and has no reason whatsoever to be the Governor of anything, let alone California. Motherfucking California. The man served as chairman of the Presidents Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. What the fuck does that even mean? He was a Red Cross ambassador as well.....uh what? The man appeared in one debate....ONE. You get the picture?
Weirder things have happened, I get it. He has in fact been Governor for 6 years or so. I don't live there but i'm assuming that people in Cali like him. He's a Republican on paper but he's pretty left minded and there are rumors he might run for US Senate in 2010. I digress...
Although I am frustrated that this man makes decisions for Americans, Arnold is a businessman. He's a movie star, he won Mr. Universe, he's been super successful at life and seems like a nice guy (say nothing of the minor sexual harrassmant scandal back in the day). I would trade our Florida Governor in a heartbeat for The Terminator. He listens to the residents of California (I assume) and doesn't have his own personal agenda. As of late though, i've been hearing grumblings about the Governator being the new face for Marijuana Legalization.
Could it be true? Could we actually have someone who is successful, intelligent, hard-working and political, be speaking out in FAVOR OF LEGALIZING MARIJUANA?
He's not a stoner pot-head hippie whose house is filled with blacklight posters and lava lamps (lol, old stereotypes were the best...I wish I had a blacklight poster). He's a father, a husband, the Governor of California and a businessman. And he has now become the SPOKESMAN FOR A GENERATION!
Alright, so i'm exaggerating a little bit...he's not really in favor of anything other than asking for his state and the government to start talking about legalizing marijuana.
There are plenty of super successful people who support the legalization of marijuana (Danny Danko), but it's nice to actually have someone in politics who isn't AFRAID to discuss it. Someone who leads a fairly normal and good existance. (take note Obama: you can't ignore it forever, might as well start educating yourself so you are prepared.)
And this is where I try to make you all understand......
We are scared of pot....remember Woodstock? People are finally starting to speak up about marijuana though. I'm a good example of that. I talk about it on www.theexperience.fm , I blog about it, I twitter about it, I facebook about it....my mother hears me talking about it and she NEVER drinks alcohol and/or does any sort of drug except Tylenol. My step-dad is a cop, bro-in-law a lawyer and my sister is a doctor. They are pretty much all anti-marijuana (ultra conservative) in every single sense of the word. I ain't skeered. That's what is great about having an opinion and being an adult....
My views on the drug have changed a bunch. I remember hating it when I was 18. I was against it big time, yet I smoked a pack of cigs daily and drank all the time. I have always known people who've used it but I was always way more interested in drinking beer than smoking anything. I think I was raised to think of it as something people did in the ghetto. Like it was frickin crack and could get you killed. Little did I know...and just so you know, the first time I smoked up was when I was in middle-school. I did a bit my senior year of high school too, but that's about it for when I was younger.
Im not a habitual pot smoker even now that I understand it, I talk about it a lot but I am acutely aware that it is a DRUG. I know it's not safe, it's not healthy and it's just another way for us to escape reality. Just like alcohol, you have to find a medium when it comes to it like most humans. If I were high all the time, I wouldn't be able to write this blog. Or would I? And if I was, would the blog actually be more interesting?
I digress... I do know that when I give myself some time to just be in my twenties and have fun (which I rarely do), i'd rather be smoking a joint than getting trashed at a bar. At least the next day I can function as a normal person and not have to worry about cleaning up barf.
All i'm saying, is given the alternative.....BEER.....it's almost insane not to think about legalizing it. Instead of random drunk rapings, there will be stimulating conversation. Instead of drunk driving accidents, there will be more organic gardens. Okay, maybe not. But it's still safer, bottom line.
So my deal is this....wouldn't you rather your 21 year old be sitting at their dorm smoking a joint with some buddies, than out cruising around drunk as fuck? You'd probably rather have them do nothing....not drink or smoke dope.....but guess what? It's been going on F O R E V E R ....there are bars on every single corner of every street. From when we were babies, we are taught that it's horrible for you....but when your old enough, it's sure a helluva lot of fun. So get over yourself.
What would you rather spend money on that allows you to tolerate how fucked up life is, for just a few hours?
TO SUMMARIZE:
The Governator is being vocal about the legalization of marijuana and that is cool. I am not a pot-head. My mom is on Facebook. And I swore only 5 times in this blog.
I don't even have anything to say about it Medically. I don't need it medically, I have no idea if it helps ease pain or nausea. But I do know, that if I have cancer and I want to smoke a joint and it makes me feel better for even 20 seconds.....then im going to fucking smoke my joint.
America needs to get over themselves. It's a new fucking generation bitches. Let men marry men and let us smoke some dope.
One Love,
Jamie
