Just this week, Lisa Ling spoke publicly that one of the women who was detained is her sister (Laura Ling). Lisa Ling is an amazing American Journalist and wonderful role model for young women everywhere. Most of you will recognize her. Her sister is equally amazing and brave along with the other journalist being held, Euna Lee. I was heartbroken hearing about this because Lisa and her family (and the family of Euna Lee) truly thought that diplomacy would take place and the women would be freed. They did not speak publicly about this until just this week. The women have been detained for 3 months and have had contact only on one or two occasions with their families during that time. Their trial begins today and they are facing possibly 10 years in Labor Camps if convicted for illegally crossing the border and "hostile actions".
With everything that is happening lately with North Korea, these two women are now in a firestorm between Korea and the U.S. These are brave young women who are passionate about what they do and my thoughts go out to them and their families.
